This is a letter from Al McCarron, a salesman in the wholesale food business, to Edward Murrow with references to people and events from the time they were students together at Washington State University. McCarron wrote the letter to Murrow after he had seen a Vogue magazine article by Lee Miller, with a picture of Murrow. In the letter he reminisces about college life and shares news about his professional and family life, as well as news about former classmates' lives. He mentions changes that World War II has brought to the West Coast, particularly the San Francisco area, and his dislike of the area in the wake of these changes. He refers to people who have come from Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Texas for jobs and economic gain. Specifically, he predicts impending trouble as the shipyards lay off workers. In one of the last paragraphs, he speculates that he might be the head radio announcer in Sequim, Washington, if he had pursued an earlier interest in broadcasting. In closing, he says he would like to hear from Murrow and asks when Murrow's broadcasts reach the Pacific Coast.

This is a letter from Erich Heller to Janet Murrow. He speaks of his brother, Dr. Paul Heller, who had met Edward Murrow, Janet's husband, at the Buchenwald concentration camp. Both Paul and Erich Heller were mentioned by Edward Murrow in the notes he took when visiting this concentration camp. Paul Heller was the doctor who showed Murrow the camp hospital. Murrow's public account of what he witnessed at Buchenwald, including the names of some of the prisoners, helped the two brothers find each other, as this letter shows.

Letter from Janet Murrow, who is living in London, to her parents in the United States, expressing regret that she has not been able to see them more often. She mentions the recent radio broadcast about conditions in the Buchenwald concentration camp, given by her husband, Edward Murrow. She says that he is on the Continent at that time, meeting with the Allied armies. She tells her parents about her social activities and the weather in London. She also mentions her sorrow over the death of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, and describes the general reaction in London.

In this letter, Edward R. Murrow responds to a letter from his former college classmate, Al McCarron. With regards to McCarron's dislike of changes in the San Francisco area brought about by World War II, Murrow says that McCarron should spend some time in Germany. He also mentions that he has just returned from three weeks in Germany himself, and will probably be off again soon. He says he envies McCarron's time spent in San Luis Obispo, even for three days. The letter implies a contrast between conditions in Germany and the West Coast of the United States near the end of World War II.

This is a one-page document of notes that Edward Murrow typed from notes he took by hand when visiting the Buchenwald concentration camp in April of 1945, after it was liberated by the Allies. The document describes conditions in the concentration camp.
