Record Group 80.07 Dramatics

This collection of three hundred and seventy Babylonian clay tablets, excavated in Iraq, are largely legal and business records. In addition to receipts for grain, beverages, animals, slaves, and silver, there are letters, pay-lists, contracts, sales, leases,loans, partitions for inheritances, and ancient labels or tags. Written between 2700 and 500 B.C., the cuneiform tablets document early Mesopotamian culture. Each tablet is in the Sumerian or Semitic Babylonian languages of the Near East.

The Teatro antiguo español collection consists of 900 plays (or sueltas) dating from 1732 to 1867, "primarily in the form of Comedias nuevas and Comedias famosas and a significant sainetes and plays in one or two acts, piezas, bayles, autos, escenas unipersonales, entremeses and soliloquios.”

Teatro antiguo español

The Neilson Personal Papers include extensive family material. His letters to his brother and sisters are particularly valuable. Other letters present Neilson's view of life at Bryn Mawr College under M. Carey Thomas, his experiences tutoring Helen Keller at Radcliffe College, and his first impressions of Smith College. The also collection reflects his strong interest in liberal politics. Also included are writings of Elisabeth Muser Neilson and the Muser, Neilson and Allan family papers. Material relating to Margaret Farrard Thorp's 1956 biography, Neilson of Smith is included in the collection. Other materials includes correspondence, manuscripts, press releases, lecture notes, texts of speeches, and photographs.
