A letter from Edwin Ward--husband of Charlotte Allen Ward, class of 1903--to his parents announcing the birth of their daughter, Eleanor Bliss Ward. The letter is written in French, as the Wards feared any correspondence written in English would be intercepted by the military. While the focus of the letter is on the new baby, Edwin does mention conditions in Beirut during these early days of World War I.
