Six pages. Lizzie writes to Nathaniel on February 7, 1864 and Nathaniel responds on February 21, 1864. He uses the same paper by writing in between the lines of her original script. Lizzie mostly describes life at home and descriptions of their very young daughter, Hattie. She complains of visiting other families whose husbands are not away, and how lonely it makes her feel. In his response, Nathaniel supposes that she must wish her husband had chosen a different profession, and hopes that he may return home in the spring.
