Documents concerning affiliated and developing YWCA of the U.S.A. associations in Pennsylvania. Documents are arranged alphabetically by town beginning with Altoona and ending with Bethlehem. For affiliated associations documents include administrative records, historical notes, visitation reports and advisory correspondence with regional and national leaders. In cases where associations cease operations, documents include correspondence, reports and administrative records concerning their disaffiliation in addition to documents concerning the active organization. Documents for those communities with new associations or interest in forming an association include letters of inquiry and visitation reports from field secretaries. YWCA of Bethlehem documents include reports from the Foreign Communities Department.

The records are open to research according to the regulations of the Sophia Smith Collection with the following accesptions: Portions of the physical papers are stored offsite. To access the microfilm reels and boxes 893-964 and 1061-1132, researchers must give two working days advance notice. Access to audiovisual materials may first require production of research copies.
