Documents concerning YWCA of the U.S.A. Foreign Division work in Ethiopia, Liberia and South Africa. American secretaries from the YWCA of the U.S.A. work in other countries to train leaders, develop programs for women, address local needs, and work towards the development of women in other countries. The foreign program emphasizes working with women and their cultural and local customs. During the conflict in Ethiopia with Italy YWCA of the U.S.A. secretaries work to aid local women and cooperate with the American Committee on the Ethiopia Crisis. In Liberia, secretaries struggle with the divide between the ruling class and the rest of the population. Other materials include correspondence regarding social and living conditions, health, planning programming and association work, constitutions for local associations in South Africa and Liberia and summary reports to the Foreign Division.
