The YWCA of the U.S.A. contributes to the World War II efforts nationally and internationally through, relief efforts, support services, advocacy and more. The minutes of the Postwar Reconstruction Leadership Counseling Group document its efforts to recruit and train staff to work with reconstruction efforts. The Committee on Refugees of the National Board is concerned specifically with relief work associated with refugees. The committee keeps informed of national and international refugee needs and coordinates relief work. This committee is also responsible for work with the interned Japanese citizens and the YWCA of the U.S.A.'s work in the camps. The Volunteers in Civilian Defense Committee investigates and defines the role of the YWCA of the U.S.A., the YWCA of the U.S.A. volunteer and the local association in civilian defense.
